WALL-E song

Joel loves to sing the song at the beginning of Disney's Wall-E movie! It's pretty cute if you ask me...though he's pretty hard to understand!

the war rages on...

Sam's new favorite thing to do it set up all his army guys, batmen, or pirates for a "fight". I love to watch him set them just-so, and tell me all about who are the good guys, and who are the bad guys (Sam is ALWAYS the leader of the good guys)! However I have found that I am not very good at playing this with him and Joel. I don't know how to make very good shooting sounds or any sound effects for that matter! And once the "fight" is over (which lasts all of 10 seconds, if that long), it's back to setting them up. I have a girl's brain and this is simply not how I played growing up! Rob on the other hand, of course, is MUCH better at it! They love playing with him, and I have noticed lately that they aren't asking me to play war with them as much as they used to....I guess they've caught on. Enjoy the pictures!

The happy general.

The "good guys" ready for battle!

The "bad guys" (which is led by the little brother, of course),
prepared for battle.

rainy days.

Well this week has been one of much needed rain in the Dallas area. However, it proved to be a very LONG week for this mommy of two very rambunctious (sp?) preschoolers! We tried to do a few fun and different things that were out of our routine, such as an indoor picnic w/ food from Wendy's while watching WALL-E, having Easter egg hunts, playing simon says (our new favorite game), playing in the garage, and doing some painting on the kitchen floor. Overall it was a good week, but I will be so thankful to see the sun peek through those clouds once again! Boys were truly meant for the outdoors! ;)

Our sad backyard w/ lots of puddles.

A little water coloring going on, with snacks on the side!

My handsome fingerpainter/cowboy!

And my half naked potty-training fingerpainter! ;)

And about 5 or 10 minutes after it the fingerpaints began,
here is what was left of mommy's "fun" idea!

6 month old Asher!!!

Today Asher went for his 6 month check up! Time sure has flown by! He is doing well and continuing to light up our home with his smiles! He is currently 15 pounds and 26 inches long/tall! Basically average, though his weight is slightly below average...his thighs tell a different story altogether! :) He is enjoying trying cereal, fruits and veggies though his favorites seem to be sweet potatoes! He can down a whole stage 1 far of food after dinner-time nursing! He may not be "below average" for long!
He also is getting better sitting up, and I'm sure in no time he will be doing it on his own! That is my favorite stage, when they sit up but don't move around yet....so nice to be able to put them down to play without fearing yet what they may get into while you aren't looking!
Enjoy the pics!

Survival...

Words of truth that are sustaining me in this roller coaster of a season in our journey of parenting:

Proverbs 19:18
"Discipline your son, for there is hope;"

Proverbs 15:1
"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Proverbs 13:24
"Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is diligent to discipline him."

Proverbs 23:13-14
"Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you stike him with the rod, he will not die. If you strike him with the rod, you will save his soul from Shoel."

Many days lately I have been temped toward despair and discouragement in the area of discipling and correcting our two older boys. Some mornings I wake up to one of them already needing correcting and I honestly want to roll over and cry and pray the bed will swallow me up. Alas, it doesn't happen and I must face the day and all that it holds: the good, the bad, and the ugly! However, last week the Lord kindly reminded me of these words of wisdom from the book of Proverbs and my mind has returned to them throughout the past few days. Though my efforts may seem futile and often times flawed by my own sin nature, I can take God at his Word...there is hope, discipline IS love, and "he who called you is faithful; He will surely do it!" (1 Thess. 5:24
Thank you Lord for your Word, and the life and hope it brings to a weary soul like me! What a gift of grace it is and I am grateful...oh, and also for this sweet little face (shown below) that greets me each morning! Such a kindness and grace when everyone else is screaming or disobeying or both!

Asher bright and early (and hungry) one morning...seriously this
was his face when he popped up to see me once I came in his room!
Love it! Had to capture it with a pic!

Happy Belated Birthday Love!

Saturday was Rob's 32nd birthday! We celebrated by going out to dinner with a big group of friends! But now I wanted to take a moment of your time and tell you why I celebrate Rob everyday!...
Rob, you are my dream come true! A loving husband, caring father, and truest friend I've ever had! I celebrate you on, not just your birthday, but everyday, because of who God created you to be! He created you a man who thirsts for God's Word, and it is contagious! He created you a man who longs for others all across this globe to know Jesus and the salvation he offers through the glorious gospel...again, it is contagious! And he created you a man who genuinely loves and cares for others. He made you a man who loves humor and smiles and laughs more often than most people...thank you! And God also created you as one who cherished his wife, as Christ loves and cherishes the church, and selfishly, I am probably most grateful for that!
Robbie, I celebrate the life God has give you, but more importantly, I celebrate and give glory to the One who gave you life and made you who you are today!
Basically Rob, your life points me (and so many others) back to Jesus...and I am grateful!
